Green and Low-Carbon Innovation Conference 2025 opens in Zhejiang


The 2025 Green and Low-Carbon Innovation Conference opened in Huzhou, Zhejiang on August 13. The event was co-hosted by the China Center for International Science and Technology Exchange (CISTE), the Zhejiang Association for Science and Technology (ZAST), the CPC Huzhou Municipal Committee, and the Huzhou Municipal People's Government.


The conference brought together nearly 300 scientists, educators, entrepreneurs, and investors from international science organizations, leading domestic and global universities, national academic societies, and green technology enterprises.


Luo Hui, Executive Secretary, Director General for the Department of International Affairs of China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), and Chen Qingcang, Vice Chairman of the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), delivered opening remarks. Liu Zhenmin, China's Special Envoy for Climate Change; Erik Solheim, former UN Under-Secretary-General; and Cheng Chong Lian, President of the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia—the event's guest of honor organization—gave keynote speeches. Chen Hao, Secretary of the CPC Huzhou Municipal Committee, gave a keynote presentation. Experts including He Kebin, Laurence Millar y Canals, Chen Jun, Philippe de Maeyer, and Chen Qi also delivered keynote reports.


Marking the 20th anniversary of the concept that "lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets", the conference was held under the theme "Technological Innovation Supporting Green Transformation and Development." It featured academic discussions, industry matchmaking, international exchanges, and public engagement, offering a pragmatic platform for cooperation.


A special seminar was dedicated to exploring how the "lucid waters and lush mountains" philosophy drives sustainable development. Experts shared insights on building ecological civilization, accelerating green transformation, and improving global environmental governance. The session highlighted China's remarkable achievements in advancing sustainability and called for stronger international solidarity to build a harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature, contributing to the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
