Subgroup Meeting for China and Sweden Experts Exchange to Fight against COVID-19 -- Basic Medicine/ Vaccine and Drug Group was held online

At 17:00 (Sweden: 11:00 Am) on June 23, 2020 in Beijing, exchange meeting of China and Sweden Joint Scientific Research Group on COVID-19 -- Basic Medicine/ Vaccine and Drug Group was held by video. The meeting was co-chaired by Dong Chen, CAS member, president of School of Medicine Qsinghua University and Anders Sönnerborg, professor of Depts Medicine and Laboratory Medicine, Senior Physician Karolinska University Hospital.


Qiang-Pan Hammarström, professor of Dept Biosciences and Nutrition, introduced antibody therapy against coronavirus; Martin Rottenberg, professor of Dept Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology, introduced target hyhoxia in SARS-2:in vitro;in hACE2 transgenic mice;in clinical studies;  Johan Sandberg, professor of Dept Medicine Huddinge, introduced the role of adaptive and innate-like T cells in COVID-19; Matti Sällberg, professor of Dept Laboratory Medicine, introduced OPENCORONA project.

Jiandong Jiang, researcher of Institute of Materia Medica, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College, introduced the clinical trial of three kinds of compounds on COVID-19 patients. Zhengli Shi, researcher of Wuhan Institute of Virology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, introduced her focus on bat coronavirus and opportunities to cooperate with Sweden.  Chuan Qin, researcher of Institute of Laboratory Animal Sciences, Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and Peking Union Medical College, introduced her research on animal model.
Scientists from both sides agreed that it is important to continue cooperation and jointly fight against the pandemic. This meeting also provided an opportunity for scientists of both sides to share data and scientific researches.
